Buy back or repair? My Model X Plaid gets hammered by hailstorms. Insurance wants to total it, but the damage is only to the top and glass. Thinking about buying it back but have no clue about repair costs or if Tesla will freak out about a rebuilt title affecting Supercharging. Anyone been through this? How much for new roof, glass, and trunks?

I went through something similar with my Model X after a bad storm. Insurance totaled it, but I bought it back because the damage was just on the roof and glass. The repair costs were high around $10k for the roof and glass alone. Tesla did mention that a rebuilt title could limit access to some features like Supercharging, so be sure to check with them first. It's a tough call, but in my case, the repairs were worth it.

Did you end up having any issues with supercharging after the repairs?

If the insurance wants to total it, that usually means repair costs might be more than a fancy dinner at a five-star restaurant, without the dessert. Lol. You can get a quote for the roof and glass before deciding, just don’t let Tesla throw a fit over that rebuilt title when you pull in for a supercharge. You know how they are about their drama.

Not really. I didn't have any issues with supercharging after the repairs, which was a relief. Tesla honored the service, and I could still use the supercharger network without any hiccups. Just make sure to double-check everything with them to be safe.
