Has anyone done a center console retrofit from the newer Model X onto a pre-refresh version? I've been digging around but haven't found anyone attempting this yet. Thinking about taking the plunge, but would love to hear any insights.

I’ve also been looking into retrofitting the center console from the newer Model X onto a pre-refresh version too. Even though they look similar, the new "horizontal display" models are quite different from the older ones, so a retrofit might not be possible. Has anyone tried it yet? I’d love to hear your thoughts before making any moves

Yeah, I actually looked into doing a center console retrofit from a newer Model X to my pre-refresh version. It’s definitely a tricky project since the designs and wiring can be quite different. I didn’t find a lot of detailed guides or people who have done it, which made me hesitant.

If you decide to go for it, just make sure to check compatibility with the wiring and any software updates you might need. It might be worth reaching out to some Tesla forums or local shops that specialize in mods they might have insights or even done similar retrofits before.

I thought about swapping out the center console on my pre-refresh Model S too. But after digging around and realizing the wiring and layout differences, I chickened out. I ended up sticking with the original, but hit up a few Tesla forums first, it’s wild how much good advice is out there.

I’d be concerned about compatibility with wiring and mounting. Have you looked into whether the newer console's features will work with your pre-refresh Model X setup?
