I’m dealing with a really annoying issue with my Model X’s A/C. On long drives, it just randomly stops blowing cold air eventhough the compressor seems to be working fine. Its like the system is stuck in a perpetual loop of needing constant fiddling with the settings to get it back to cooling. It's becoming really tiresome and I'm wondering if anyone else has faced this glitch? Any tips on how to fix it?

Try these first:
1. Turn off cabin overheat protection
2. Turn off the A/C
3. Follow instructions for a soft reset (hold down scroll keys until screen resets)
4. Follow instructions for hard reset (controls - security- power off; wait at least 3 minutes; step on brake to power on)
5. Check A/C screen to see if the “climate keeper unavailable due to system fault” message has disappeared
6. If the message is still there, repeat step 4
7. Re-enable cabin overheat protection

It’s interesting that you found a workaround, but it must’ve been real crazy to do that every hour. Have you checked if there’s a software update or anything that might fix the issue permanently?

My girlfriend had a similar issue with her Model X last summer. The A/C would randomly stop blowing cold air on long trips, and I found myself constantly tweaking the settings. After a lot of trial and error, I realized it wasn't just the compressor, it was a faulty cabin temperature sensor that was misreading the internal temp. We drove it to Tesla service, and they replaced the sensor, which solved everything. You might want to have them check that in your car too.

Did you notice any specific signs before the sensor was replaced, or was it just the inconsistent A/C?

The inconsistent A/C was the main issue, but we also noticed the cabin temperature on the screen didn’t match how it actually felt inside. That’s what tipped me off that it could be the sensor misreading. Once it was replaced, everything went back to normal.
