Just got a used 2018 Model X with about 22k miles on it. The range is way worse than it should be - only about 200 miles on an 80% charge. Tesla’s saying I need a new battery and it’s gonna cost a ton, even though it’s under warranty. They’re blaming overcharging, but I just bought it a few months ago! Anyone else run into this crap?

A few friends with older Model Xs have had similar range issues, and it often turned out to be battery calibration problems rather than needing a full replacement.

if it’s under warranty, you shouldn’t have to pay for a new battery. I am wondering, have you tried pushing back on Tesla about the overcharging claim and providing any documentation from your purchase?

My old car had something similar, I bought it used and found out the battery was on its last legs shortly after. It felt like a hidden cost I wasn't prepared for. I hope you get it sorted out without breaking the bank.
