I'm about to go for a caliper paint job and need some jacking advice for my 2020 Model X. I know about Jack Mode, but what else should I be aware of? What size floor jack is safe and effective without going overboard?

You have to make sure the jack can support enough weight. Have a block or something ready to hold the car up in case the jack deflates. When taking the wheels off, expect to rock the car a bit.

For your Model X, a 3-ton floor jack should be safe and effective, and make sure to use jack stands for extra security once it’s lifted.

Ahh yes, the two solid rules.
  • Don't forget to use jack stands.
  • Never get under a vehicle supported only by a floor jack.
