2016 Model X charger specs

I've got a 2016 Model X and I'm trying to figure out the specifics of my onboard charger. Does anyone know how to tell if it's a 48A or 72A unit? And while I'm at it, is it made up of 24A modules or 16A ones? Any tips or tricks to figure this out would be greatly appreciated!

Both chargers have a maximum output of 16 amps. The maximum charging capacity of your vehicle depends on its performance history. If it has previously charged at a rate exceeding 48 amps, it is capable of handling 64 amps. Also, if it has surpassed 64 amps, it can support an 80 amp charge.

I think your issue might be related to the charge port overheating. I’ve noticed fluctuations while charging too. At home I can hit 32A but then saw it go up to 61A at a Tesla destination charger before dropping to 48A. As for your onboard charger, if it’s dropping like that, it could be worth checking if you have a 48A or 72A unit. You might find it’s made up of either 24A or 16A modules.

You can usually check the specifications in your owner's manual or by looking at the settings in your vehicle's touchscreen. I'm concerned though, if you can't find that info easily, it might be a sign of other issues with the onboard charger.
