I'm having serious buyer's remorse about my new Model X order! I test drove it and loved it, but then I read the Consumer Reports review and freaked out. Everyone raves about the tech and driving experience, but I'm worried about build quality issues. Has anyone had problems with their Model X? Were you able to get them fixed? I need some reassurance before my car arrives!

Afaik the 2021 and earlier models are significantly different from the latter models. I'd recommend going with a 2022 or newer model. My 2022 Model X has been extremely reliable, despite some early build quality issues that Tesla has since addressed.

Consumer Reports hasn't always rated Tesla highly, but if you like the car, why let an ad-funded publication influence your choice?

Model X is a great ride overall, not perfect, but definitely great. As long you have a good warranty and dealer around, you should be okay.

Don’t worry too much, the tech and drive are great, and while some have had build quality issues, Tesla service usually takes care of things quickly. You’ll probably love it once you’re behind the wheel.

I get your concern really, I also had mine, but I had a colleague who encouraged me to purchase my Model X by providing insights on the reality of owning an EV; I was already interested in both the Model 3 and EVs in general. He’s now on his third Tesla, including two Model Xs. The first Model X was an early build that spent a lot of time in the shop during the first three months, leading Tesla to buy it back at full price, after which he got another that has had zero issues in the past three years.

So, what’s the takeaway? Tesla is definitely improving in quality, and it’s possible to find a fault-free model, hope this helps your decision.

Right? It’s like taking fashion advice from a time traveler stuck in the '80s! Consumer Reports might want to catch up with the times, some of their views seem a bit stuck in the past.
