Hey, I’m rocking a used 2018 MX and I’m on a mission to stretch every last mile of range. Got any tips on the best wheel and tire setup for this ride? Also, should I go with the suspension low or high for max efficiency? I’m all ears for any tricks you’ve got to help me get the most out of it!

I just responded to a thread few mins ago on using low rolling resistance tires. I recommend you go with low rolling resistance tires for max range, they’ll help stretch your miles. As for wheels, for better efficicency I think you should stick to 19" or 20". You can do this too, keep your suspension in the low setting when cruising, it reduces drag and helps with range. And lastly, make sure your tire pressure is spot on! Sounds like a lot right? But I bet ya you will enjoy better efficiency when you try these tips.

Those are some solid tips! I'm a bit concerned though, switching to low rolling resistance tires can impact grip and handling, so make sure you balance efficiency with safety. It’s all about finding that sweet spot.

I'm seriously considering getting the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3s for my Model X 100D with the 20-inch rims.

Honestly, I'm a bit nervous about making the switch.

My top concern is road noise – I absolutely hate tire noise. Maximizing range is also important, but not as much as keeping things quiet.

To be honest, how long they last isn't a huge deal for me. If they turn out to be noisy, I'd probably replace them anyway.

For my Model X 100D with 20-inch wheels, the Continental CrossContact LX Sport 2 was significantly more expensive on Tire Rack compared to the Pirelli Scorpion All Season Plus 3.

While I know the Continental might be slightly better in deep snow, I don't anticipate any major issues with the Pirellis, especially since I'm not overly concerned about fuel efficiency. I doubt the Continental would offer a huge advantage there anyway.

Both tire options will be louder than the stock Continentals, but I much prefer the feeling of the Pirelli tires. I have Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 winter tires on my Model Y Performance, and while they're different, the tread pattern on the Pirelli reminds me a bit of the Michelins. I find the Pirellis grip better in dry conditions.

Since I plan on getting a dedicated set of summer tires eventually, I'm not too worried about year-round performance. The Pirellis will at least give me peace of mind knowing I can drive them in all types of weather without worrying about excessive wear.
