I’m about to pull the trigger on a 2024 MX Gen2, and I’m researching the options. I believe I can add Enhanced Autopilot and FSD after purchase. Is that true? If so, is the upgrade purely OTA software, or are hardware changes needed? I’m aiming to stay under $85K to get the $7,500 discount. Here's the build I’m considering: Stealth Grey, 20" Cyberstream wheels, All-Black Premium interior, Five seats, Tow Package, and Basic Autopilot, but I’m wondering about upgrading to Enhanced and FSD later. Any advice?

It remains unclear whether the current hardware, such as computers, cameras, and the absence of USS and radar, is truly capable of self-driving. I’m sure you've already considered this.

I have considered the hardware limitations and will keep an eye on future updates, but I’m still interested in upgrading to FSD.

Getting a FSD just gives you the latest software updates, but no shiny new hardware. Whether the current hardware will ever be enough to actually make FSD work properly is still up in the air, and considering it’s been few years with no solid answer, things aren’t looking great. And even if they decide new hardware is a must for FSD to finally do its thing, don’t expect any hardware upgrades down the line.
