Dude, next month marks a whole year since I got my Model X! But seriously, not even a year in, and I'm seeing these annoying rust spots between the brake rotor and the rim on the front wheel. It's driving me nuts! I've babied this car, only clocked around 8k miles, and now this? Is this normal? Should I be worried about safety? Ugh, it's so frustrating!

It’s annoying to see rust spots on your Model X, especially after just a year. Unfortunately, it’s pretty common for Teslas due to poorly coated rotor housings, but it’s just a cosmetic issue, not a safety concern.

Hey rust on the brake rotor area can happen surprisingly fast, especially in damp climates. It’s mostly cosmetic and shouldn’t affect safety unless it’s spreading to critical parts of the wheel or braking system. Keep an eye on it, but if it’s bugging you, Tesla service can confirm if it’s more than just a visual annoyance.

Yeah, it’s just a cosmetic issue, so no worries about safety. But of course, Tesla isn’t covering any of that under their warranty, cosmetic stuff and wear and tear are on you.

If it really bugs you, you can try lightly sanding it off or using a rust remover, then add a high-temp clear coat to slow it down. Or just drive more—regular braking helps keep rust at bay!
